On a cold and snowy night in January 2025 Pounce opened at EDGE. A space I shared with three of my gallery mates, Nolan Tredway, Jennifer Pettus and Harita Patel.
My friends and family came to see Pounce at Edge on opening night, despite the weather. They love me, and will think whatever I nail onto a gallery wall is great. I expect and enjoy their words of praise and encourament. From my perifery I notice the strangers who pass by my tens of hours of work without a second glance. My ears prick up to their words of criticism, and I try not to have them echoing in my head. I keep smiling, and nod when some of them asks me if this is my work. They don't stop to read my carefully crafted show biography, or notice the Pounce title card that my sister desinged for me. They say nothing and walk away. The art we make from the heart isn't for everyone.
