My first showing in the Santa Fe art district of Denver, was with Josh Berkowitz at The Lab on Santa Fe. I was happy to participate in Intricacy, a show that had my Boss Lady with Vibrator as the cover girl for a solid show filled with eclictic art.
Josh had three of my pieces in his show. Two of them were from my show Fine Lines and Linens, including Boss Lady with Handcuffs , and a fan favorite The Neighbor Lady from the Penumbra show.
The show continued through the most popular First Friday of the year, August 3rd. As the hot evening faded into night, I noticed a pattern play out over and over. The Neighbor Lady would catch an eye, and then get a smile. Then either a group, or just one person would walk over to her. I'd wait for as long as I could, and then jump in and share in the moment. The Neighbor Lady is approachable. Men seemed to be drawn to her, which I love. She is my version of the divine feminine, welcoming everyone to put their load down and share a moment. The Boss Ladies took a beet or two longer for folks to warm up to. Women tended to be drawn to them more than men, maybe that isn't surprising. Nonetheless the trio had fun and brought smiles to me and the people who came through.
